Residential heater program could help FNSB improve air quality

The Alaska Center for Energy and Power is conducting an electric thermal storage heater field study that will take place over three years in North Pole, Alaska. The goal of the study is to learn whether electric thermal storage heaters, a type of supplementary heating appliance, can help reduce home heating costs and improve air quality, especially PM2.5.

Initiating difficult conversations training

There are conversations in which the stakes are high: asking for a raise, ending a relationship, giving a critical performance review, confronting disrespectful behavior, apologizing or disagreeing within a group. This online workshop on Friday, Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to noon is about developing the skills to initiate the conversations which most people find difficult, unpleasant and generally avoid. You will learn the practical skills involved in framing a problem without blame or defensiveness and how to keep the conversation productive. Questions about the training can be directed to Tasha Leach.
