UAF, Latitude 65 to launch Nanook 65 Golden Ale

The University of Alaska Fairbanks has teamed up with Fairbanks' Latitude 65 Brewing Company on a new beer that will boost scholarships for Alaska Nanooks student-athletes.

Kristin O'Brien to serve on Advisory Committee for Polar Programs

Kristin O'Brien, professor in the Institute of Arctic Biology and Department of Biology and Wildlife, has been invited to serve on the Advisory Committee (AC) for Polar Programs at the NSF. The next meeting of the AC will be held virtually via Zoom on Sept. 15-16 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and polar researchers are welcome and encouraged to attend but will need to register in advance.


Certified food protection manager training class scheduled

The UAF Cooperative Extension Service will offer a two-day food protection manager training class Oct. 17-18. The class is offered via Zoom from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Register at least two weeks before each class to receive the study guide on time. Registration deadline is 5 p.m. Oct. 3.

The chancellor will announce winners of the scavenger hunt during the 2022 Fall Convocation. Prizes include a membership to the Student Recreation Center for the 2022-23 academic year, two parking passes for the 2022-23 academic year, and an Alaska Airlines voucher! More details on the scavenger hunt are coming this week. Don't forget to take a moment to recognize your colleagues via this form. A selection of shout-outs will be included in the chancellor's remarks and on the big screen in the Great Hall during the ice cream social after Convocation.

Nondisclosure agreements reminder

If your work at the university involves the exchange of proprietary or confidential information, then you should be working through UAF’s assigned staff to execute a nondisclosure agreement, or NDA. NDAs, also referred to as confidential disclosure agreements and proprietary information agreements, are handled by staff at UAF’s Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization and Office of Grants and Contracts Administration.
