Cooperative Extension offers classes on food prep, preservation

University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension agent Sarah Lewis and Anchorage program manager Gina Dionne will offer a series of Tuesday evening online classes on preparing and preserving foods for the holidays.


Holdmann to lead discussion about small-scale nuclear energy

Gwen Holdmann will discuss small-scale nuclear energy and its potential in Alaska at a town hall energy discussion on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 5:30 p.m. at the Noel Wien Library Auditorium in Fairbanks. The event is being hosted by UAF’s Alaska Center for Energy and Power and the Northern Alaska Environmental Center.


White paper submissions sought for NSF MRI program

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is soliciting white papers for the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Program. Review more information about the program and submission process.Submissions are due by Sept. 23.


Faculty Advisor Development workshops scheduled this semester

The Academic Advising Center is hosting a series of workshops on advising topics for faculty advisors every Thursday this semester from 1-2 p.m. in Rm 352 of the Duckering Building. Workshops for this month include: UA Online and Degreeworks on Sept. 15, Academic Standing and Disqualification on Sept. 22, and Nanook Navigator on Sept. 29. Nanook Recreation Group Fitness for Fall

Nanook Recreation is offering a variety of fitness classes for fall semester 2022. Familiar programs such as strength training, Olympic weightlifting, mat pilates, yoga, outdoor bootcamp and adult speed training will be offered and we'll be expanding into other new areas such as CrossFit later in the semester.


NASA launch

NASA Pathways Internships deadline is this Friday, Sept. 16

Know a student interested in working at NASA? They should consider a NASA Pathways Internship. NASA Pathways interns have a high chance of a career at NASA after graduation. The current application period is open through Sept. 16.
