Scavenger hunt now open through Sept. 26

To be eligible for the prizes all missions in the scavenger hunt have to be completed, and the participant has to be present at Convocation to win. To participate in the scavenger hunt, you will need to download the Goosechase app, available on the AppStore and Google Play, and enter the code J5763J to join the game. Participants must use their UAF email address as their username. Don't forget to fill out a model release so we can share some of the great photos and videos from the scavenger hunt! Join the OER Innovation Quest

The high cost of textbooks and course materials is one factor that can influence student success. Open Educational Resources, or OER, are free-to-access textbooks and other course materials that instructors can use in their courses to provide more equitable learning opportunities for students.


Humans V Zombies game returns to campus

Your favorite campus game of tag is back: Humans Vs Zombies! Join the Office of Sustainability, Esports, Student Activities Office and Nanook Diversity and Action Center for a large-scale game of tag using Nerf equipment in a zombie apocalypse setting from Sept. 20-24. This weeklong event is open to all students, and consists of missions and the battle to survive the increasing zombie hoard. Staff council nominations open through Sept. 27

Staff Council will be holding elections in October for odd-numbered units and at-large seats. This is a total of 16 seats! Representatives will be elected to two-year terms starting in January 2023. Visit the Staff Council Unit Finder tool to verify which unit you belong to (UA network or VPN required). Those in odd-numbered units are welcome to nominate themselves or a colleague to serve a two-year term representing that unit. You may also nominate a staff member from any unit to an at-large position. JR Ancheta Shine a Light Series: Ladawan making images

JR Ancheta is a University of Alaska Fairbanks alumnus and is the Chief Storyteller for the UAF Geophysical Institute. He was born in Laoag City, Philippines, and was raised in Sitka, Alaska, after his family immigrated to the United States. Hear about his journey as a photographer. JR will share about his approach to the art and how his experience as an immigrant informs his work. Register for Zoom and audio info.


Implicit bias workshop

The Implicit Bias Training Workshop will provide an introduction to different forms of implicit bias and its impacts. Trainers will introduce tools and methods participants can use to interrupt and mitigate bias in the moment and in the long term. This workshop, scheduled for Sept. 27 from 1-3:30 p.m. via Zoom, is hosted by the UAF Department of Equity and Compliance.
