Have you noticed more red leaves this autumn compared to the past few years? I have
lived here since 2008, and I have never seen so much red in our aspen and birch leaves.
This year in Fairbanks, there are more reds present than in the prior 12 years.
We have begun to plan for the FY24 federal funding appropriations request. UAF is
requiring that all individuals interested in submitting an appropriations request
to the Congressional delegation complete an initial request through this Google form. The submission deadline for consideration of a request is Oct. 31, 2022. If you have questions about the type of appropriations request you would like to submit,
please contact John Latini, UA Director of Federal Relations and Cassidy Hobbs, UA Assistant Director of Federal Relations.
Registration is open for fall classes offered through the University of Alaska Fairbanks’
365 SMART Academy. The program, which includes a variety of K-12 classes, is expanding
to include in-person courses. New in-person additions include classes such as rock
climbing, rifle, aerial silks, drawing, printmaking, babysitter training and more.
The 365 SMART Academy will also continue to offer a variety of virtual classes. Registration
is open for this fall’s classes, which begin the first week in October. For more information
about the 365 SMART Academy and fall offerings, visit https://fall365.alaska.edu or contact Summer Sessions and 907-474-7021.
