Faculty and staff from four universities in Alaska collaborated to bring together
a leadership conference for their students. The University of Alaska Fairbanks worked
in partnership with University of Alaska Southeast, Prince William Sound College and
Alaska Pacific University to provide a leadership conference on the PWSC campus.
From the early 1900’s to the 1960’s thousands of Alaskans were found guilty of “insanity”
and sent to Morningside Hospital in Oregon. Most families never heard from their loved
ones again. Robin Renfroe has spent years researching family histories for her own
family and others, which lead her on a personal journey to find her husband’s uncle
who was sent to Morningside and never heard from again. Learn about ongoing research
on the hospital and those admitted during an online session on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022
from noon to 1 p.m. Please register in advance on Zoom.
Mention 3D printing and someone is likely to think about small plastic things such
as customized Lego bricks or miniature dinosaurs. 3D printing is something entirely different at the University of Alaska Fairbanks
Geophysical Institute, which operates the university system’s only 3D metal printer.
UAF purchased the printer in mid-2020, but it was not ready for use until this year.
