Investing in our community has always been important to UAF. I invite you to join
in the UAF United Way of the Tanana Valley annual workplace campaign. The campaign
officially kicks off this week. The busiest time of the campaign season is through
the end of December, so be on the lookout for presentations and events near you.
At 10:20 a.m. on Oct. 20, 2022, hundreds of thousands of people will "Drop, Cover,
and Hold On" in The Great Alaska ShakeOut, the state's largest earthquake drill ever!
Participation can be as simple as a one-minute "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" training.
All colleges and universities are encouraged to participate (or plan a more extensive
exercise).
The U.S. Arctic Research Commission will hold its 115th meeting in person at UAF (room
space is limited). Business sessions and presentations, open to the public for viewing,
will convene at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 25. There will be a public comment session on Oct.
26 from 11:30 a.m. to noon. An audio-only listening option is available (information
is on linked agenda).
