Welcome to Nanook Recreation's virtual race series challenge! This virtual race is meant to help you get out and exercise during the winter. The idea behind this event is that each person who participates runs, jogs, walks, or skis their own 5K, 10K or half-marathon.


Help APRCA celebrate National Archives Month

To celebrate National Archives Month, the Alaska and Polar Regions Collections & Archives is hosting an open house themed around maps to show off the new map room! Please come help the Archives celebrate! The event will highlight some new renovations and the amazing map collections. Refreshments will also be available.


Winter Wellness: Get Moving!

Students can stop by the Student Health and Counseling table in the MBS between noon and 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 to get information about incorporating some physical movement into their winter days. Students can pick up worksheets full of ideas for all levels of activity, and swipe their Polar Express card at the table for a chance to win prizes that can help them get moving this winter.

Angela Linn prepares Bus 142 for conservation work in the Engineering High Bay on the UAF campus

Major grant to support Bus 142 conservation

A $500,000 federal grant from the National Park Service and the Institute of Museum and Library Services will help the University of Alaska Museum of the North prepare Bus 142 for public exhibition during the summer of 2024. The money will fund extensive conservation work on the 1940s-era bus, made famous by the book and film "Into the Wild."
