for being recognized by NASA for her contributions to the field of synthetic aperture
radar.
Join Northwest Campus, the Nanook Diversity and Action Center, and UAF's Department
of Equity and Compliance on Dec. 6 from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom for the next talk in the Shine a Light series: Art as Storytelling with Jenny Irene Miller. Jenny Irene Miller is an artist who works primarily with photography, but also sometimes
video, sound, and sculpture. Jenny Irene Miller is Iñupiaq originally from Nome, Alaska. Miller’s work explores
notions of identity, place, Indigenous feminism, refusal, and access.
UAF eCampus is sponsoring a student design contest for a marketing campaign in the
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. All UAF students are invited to submit original
artwork which will be featured on a printed banner in the N terminal of the airport.
The chosen artist will receive a $1,000 tuition award. Due to popularity of the contest,
the final day for submissions is now Tuesday, Dec. 6. Please pass this on to your students!
In conjunction with the Art Department's annual studio sale, the Office of Sustainability
will host a De-stress Fest and Campus Made Market on Dec. 9 from noon to 6 p.m. in
Native Arts Studio Room 301 in the Fine Arts Building. After shopping the studio sale drop by to relax, enjoy winter-themed snacks, craft
a free gift for yourself or someone else, shop from a selection of campus-made products
and learn about new ways to manage stress during the darkest days of the year.

Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Policy at the UAF International Arctic Research
Center is hosting the webinar Dec. 6 from 10-11 a.m. Rich Buzard, from the UAF Arctic
Coastal Geoscience Lab, will be presenting his work monitoring coastal erosion and
laying the foundation for resilience in coastal Alaskan communities. To learn more

Dec. 6 marks the 100th anniversary of our library's participation in the Federal Depository
Library Program. This federal program began in 1813 with an act of Congress, and ensured
public access to federal government information across the United States. Please join us from 10-11 a.m. Dec. 6 in celebrating this anniversary with a small
ceremony on the library's 4th floor. All are welcome.
