Reminder - spring 2023 book adoptions

Dropping in for dry wood

At 9 a.m. on a crisp Monday morning in mid-November, I am one of about 10 people standing outside an office on First Avenue in Fairbanks. We are here for the “wood drop” program organized by Aurora Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of Aurora Energy — the company that owns the 27.5-megawatt coal-fired power plant, right across the road, that supplies electricity to the greater Fairbanks area and heat in the form of steam to the downtown area.

Dr. Michael Yellow Bird will present on decolonizing epistemologies, theory, and relevance for implementing Indigeneity in institutional spaces such as higher education on Dec. 16 from noon to 2 p.m. Pre-register for the Zoom.


Winter break parking lot closures, snow removal

With heavy snows expected, Facility Services is working around the clock to provide drivable roads and parking spaces for all university stakeholders. Hard pack removal is a significant part of snow clearance. To provide a safe working environment for our plows and graders and to protect your personal vehicle, we need to close certain parking lots.
