Friday Focus: Let's talk about accreditation

Did you know that the University of Alaska Fairbanks has been accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) since 1934? But what does this mean? What is accreditation and why is it so important? Simply put, accreditation is a quality stamp - a stamp of assurance. Accreditation is a voluntary process of self-regulation, continuous improvement, and peer review. It is a rigorous process that is adopted by colleges and universities across the nation and that the educational community distinctly recognizes (more information here).


Reminder - Select new UAF web template theme by Dec. 31

University Relations has updated themes available for UAF's Omni CMS web template as part of our ongoing brand refresh. To select an updated web theme, please fill out the UAF web theme request form by Dec. 31, 2022. The University Relations web team will contact you to coordinate when to apply your updated theme choice. Websites without an updated theme request by the deadline will have the Default Blue theme applied over the the spring 2023 semester. If you have any questions or concerns about these upcoming changes, please reach out to the University Relations web team at uaf-web@alaska.edu.

Personal mail to department policy

The Campus Mail Center would like to remind everyone that using your University of Alaska Fairbanks department address for delivery of your personal mail is prohibited. If a piece is deemed personal mail it may be sent to the department with a letter about this mail rule, or it may be held for pickup at the Campus Mail Center. Any future personal items will be held for pickup at the CMC. Information can be found our website under the Department area.

Join us for this festive event as we prepare to head back to the Carlson Center for the first game in the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup series since 2020.


Survey: Science experiences in Arctic communities and citizen science projects

University scientists working in Arctic communities and on citizen science projects are invited to participate in a survey of their experiences. The results will be used to better understand how scientists are shaped by leading or working on community and/or citizen science projects in the Arctic or sub-Arctic.
