UAF to host New Year's Eve Sparktacular fireworks display

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host the Fairbanks Curling Lions' 33rd annual Sparktacular celebration on Saturday, Dec. 31. Fireworks will be launched from UAF's West Ridge starting at 8 p.m.


Winter break timesheets

The Signers' Business Office reminds staff to submit their R01 timesheets (Dec. 18 to Dec. 31, 2022) by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022. It is highly recommended that employees submit their R01 timesheet prior to leaving for winter break. Employees will need to claim Annual Leave, Faculty Time Off, Personal Holiday, and/or Leave Without Pay during the three hard closure days (Dec. 27-29). Any exceptions must have dean or director approval.


North Star College information night

The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District and the University of Alaska Fairbanks will host a North Star College informational event for high school students and parents on Jan. 11 from 5:30-7 p.m. in Room 301 of the Usibelli Building at 1764 Tanana Loop on the main campus. The event will include tours and presentations about the middle college program for rising local junior and senior high school students for the 2023-24 school year.

We highly encourage advisors, instructors, and staff to sign up for Nanook Navigator training over the next few months. The training sessions are open to all Nanook Navigator users (staff and faculty advisors, instructors, student employees, front desk staff, etc.).

HAARP to bounce signal off asteroid in NASA experiment

An experiment to bounce a radio signal off an asteroid on Dec. 27 will serve as a test for probing a larger asteroid that in 2029 will pass closer to Earth than the many geostationary satellites that orbit our planet.
