A powerful transmitter in remote Alaska sent long wavelength radio signals into space
Dec. 27, 2022, with the purpose of bouncing them off an asteroid to learn about its
interior. Results of the experiment at the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program research
facility at Gakona could aid efforts to defend Earth from larger asteroids that could
cause significant damage.
Collaboration is one of the most powerful ways to engage students in a learning process
- and yet it can be tricky to manage peer-to-peer relationships and collaboration.
Join UAF colleagues for a conversation about group work, including examples from faculty
who've been practicing collaboration in their courses. Panelists include Wendy Martelle
(LING), Jennifer Tilbury (WRTG), and Gordon Williams (MATH). Reserve your seat for this Zoom-only event scheduled for Jan. 11 from 10-11:30 a.m.
The Alaska NSF EPSCoR and Alaska NIH INBRE programs are holding a workshop at the Wedgewood Resort in Fairbanks from 10:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Jan. 11 and 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 12. The workshop will have three separate tracks for faculty, staff and students (both
