Chancellor White's online forum on enrollment will take place on Thursday, Feb. 9 from 1-2 p.m. Panelists will share exciting progress on UAF's strategic enrollment planning efforts and opportunities for participation. Please submit a question in this Google doc, and register in advance for the Zoom. Questions submitted early helps the panelists answer your questions during the forum. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information on joining the webinar.

I'm excited to share with all of you that the work on the expansion of North Star College is in full swing. We still have another week before the lottery deadline and yet we have already surpassed our goal of 125 students signing up, which is more vetted applications than we had anticipated!


Gender Inclusion 101

Gender Inclusion 101 will introduce participants to gender diversity and inclusivity, explore why it's important for our campuses and communities to be safe and welcoming places for people of all genders, and share how participants can be active allies to the LGBTQ2IA+ community. This workshop on Monday, Feb. 20 from 1-3 p.m. is hosted by the UAF Department of Equity and Compliance and the UAF Nanook Diversity and Action Center.

Nominations sought for UAF Alumni Association board

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Alumni Association is accepting nominations to serve three-year terms on its 12-member board of directors. Nominations will be accepted through March 13, 2023. Nominees must be UAF graduates and members in good standing with the UAF Alumni Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting UAF and connecting its alumni. Candidates must be interested in a leadership and advocacy role in support of UAF, its alumni and the mission of higher education in Alaska.

Science for Alaska lecture series: Detecting space-debris bullets

The UAF Geophysical Institute presents the 31st annual Science for Alaska lecture series and events. On Tuesday, Feb. 7 in the Schaible Auditorium at 7 p.m., Paul A. Bernhardt will present Detecting Space-Debris Bullets. For more information visit the Science for Alaska website, the Facebook event page, or call 907-474-7787. Talks are free and for the public. The College of Rural and Community Development is hosting its next monthly speaker series highlighting research on Wednesday, Feb. 8 from noon to 1 p.m. UAF staff, faculty and students are encouraged to attend. This month's speaker is Center for Cross Cultural Studies Associate Professor Mike Koskey, who will be presenting on Community-Based and Community-Initiated Research, Lessons Learned and Best Practices.
