UAF Day at the fair scheduled for Aug. 1

UAF Day at the Tanana Valley State Fair will include UAF activities throughout the fairgrounds. UAF employees, students, alumni and friends will receive $1 off admission by wearing UAF apparel or showing their PolarExpress card. In addition to various special activities, UAF will also have booths in the Borealis Pavilion throughout the fair. Cooperative Extension will host several 4-H activities on UAF Day, including a horse show and a market poultry and rabbit show. See the full event schedule on the fair's website.


Quality Matters Workshop: Improving Your Online Course

Quality Matters is a nationally recognized program designed to help you reflect on and improve your online course. The workshop on Aug. 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. explores the new 7th edition of the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses. Participants use the QM Rubric to review one of their own online or hybrid courses and develop a course improvement plan. This workshop is open to faculty across the UA system. Six graduate students were announced as the third cohort of fellows in the Tamamta program, which centers on bridging Indigenous and Western sciences to transform graduate education and research in fisheries and marine sciences.

CTC Dean Michele Stalder retiring after 42 years

The University of Alaska Fairbanks, Community and Technical College celebrates the remarkable legacy of beloved CTC Dean Michele Stalder in supporting Alaska students and connecting them to vital jobs within the state. After more than four decades of service to the university, Dean Stalder will retire on Aug. 1. All faculty and staff are invited to a retirement celebration on Thursday, July 27, from 4-6 p.m.
