Shine a Light Series: Indigenous identity panel

Join UAF’s Northwest Campus, the UAF Office of Rights, Compliance and Accountability, and the Nanook Diversity and Action Center for this month's Shine a Light Series event on Tuesday, Nov. 28 from noon to 2 p.m.: a special panel discussion for Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month. Panelists will explore what being Native/ Indigenous means to them, how various aspects of their identity interact with one another, and the relationship between their self-perception and how others perceive them. Please register in advance. AI in Education: UAF Faculty Senate Forum Committee updates

Online: Disabilities in disasters and the resolute resistors

Individuals with disabilities are often disproportionately affected by a disaster; likewise, no two disabilities or vulnerable populations are alike and should not be treated the same way. In this presentation on Dec. 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., guest speaker Daryl P. Schaffer will review what individuals with disabilities may need before, during, or after a disaster as well as what they can give back to some professional emergency career fields.
