Friday Focus: Internal improvement initiatives

In our pursuit of operational excellence at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, I am delighted to share exciting developments in our internal improvement initiatives. Our journey toward achieving R1 status encompasses various access points within Financial and Business Services, including enhancing travel support, research and sponsored project administration, and general employee onboarding and engagement experiences. By stabilizing and strengthening these areas, we ensure that expert service and resources are consistently provided to the UAF community, facilitating progress toward the R1 goal. Museum programs highlight Alaska stories in February

The University of Alaska Museum of the North will highlight Alaska stories during family programs in February. Learn more about the events scheduled for Feb. 9 and 24.

Registration open for museum sleepover

Registration is now open for the University of Alaska Museum of the North's sleepover for kids ages 7-13 with an adult. The event is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 16. It begins at 7 p.m. and runs through 9 a.m. the next day. Learn more about the sleepover.

Alaska is still good at making cold

Moments after I bashed some sheet rock with a hammer to expose my home's water pipes to warmer air, I logged in to see another Special Weather Statement. A meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Fairbanks wrote: "After a brief 'warm-up' from the bitterly cold temperatures recently, another prolonged cold-snap will return to the Interior." Build interactive content in Canvas

Learn how to make fun interactive learning activities in your course quickly and easily in Canvas using H5P and Smart Import. This session on Feb. 15 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Zoom will be presented by H5P and is hosted by the Center for Teaching and Learning. Read more about the session.
