Museum will celebrate Black Alaskans' experiences at free event Feb. 9

The University of Alaska Museum of the North will host a free public event to celebrate the diverse narratives of Black Alaskans on Friday, Feb. 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The celebration will showcase "Black in Alaska: Interior Edition," a multimedia exhibit that examines the rich history and experience of Black life in Alaska through storytelling. WMA Wilderness First Aid course

This Wilderness First Aid course is a great 20-hour look at the standards and skills of dealing with: Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies and Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies. There is both hands-on practice and classroom learning. Learn more about the course and registration.


Food protection manager course offered Feb. 27

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will offer a certified food protection manager training on Tuesday, Feb. 27, with proctors for testing available in 16 communities. Read more on the course and how to register.


The Making is Learning Lab located in Bunnell 131 on the Troth Yeddha' Campus.

The Mill is open

Visit the Mill (Making is Learning Lab) during open hours, Monday to Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. Use 3D printers, sublimation printers, cutting machines, and more. No permission is required; instructional designers and lab attendants are available for assistance. Learn more about the Mill and using the space


Usibelli Award, 2025 Honorary Degrees, President's Adjunct Award deadlines

The deadline for nominations for the 2024 Emil Usibelli Distinguished Teaching, Research and Service Awards must be received by Feb. 13, 2024. Honorary degree nominations for Commencement 2025 must be received by Feb. 28, 2024. President’s Adjunct Award Nominations for Academic Year 2022-23, Academic Year 2023-2024 must be received by May 11, 2024. More info about awards can be found at the Provost’s website.
