Friday Focus: Back to school

Happy first week of the fall 2024 semester! It is so exciting to walk around campus and feel the vibrancy that comes from students moving back into the residence halls. For those of you who were off contract in the summer, welcome back! You may notice that a few things have changed since you were last on campus. Call for art: Attention creative faculty, staff

The first-ever "Beyond the 9-5" art exhibit is coming to the University Art Gallery to showcase the creations of the artistic people working at UAF. UAF non-art faculty and staff are invited to submit one piece of ready-to-hang or ready-to-display work. The show will run from Sept. 23 to Oct. 4, with an opening reception on Friday, Sept. 27 from 5-7 p.m. Read more for info on submission dates.

Departments: Enter mocktails in SoBear Mix-Off contest

The Office of Rights, Compliance and Accountability Prevention and Outreach Department will host a mocktail fundraiser on Sept. 6 from noon to 2 p.m. Departments are asked to donate their favorite, cleverly-named mocktail recipe and mocktail supplies. The department with the most popular drink will win the 2024 Mocktail Mix-Off Award! Learn more and how departments can enter to participate.

Graduate TA's weekly meet-up at the MILL

Starting this Friday, Graduate TAs are invited to get together weekly on Fridays from noon to 1 p.m. at the Center for Teaching and Learning for an informal meetup in the MILL maker space. Instructional designers will be available for teaching support questions. Graduate TAs will learn about the maker space and can make something awesome every week! Snacks provided. Learn more about opportunities at CTL.


Advising candidate roundtable sessions

Student Affairs and Enrollment Management organized roundtable question and answer sessions with the three finalist candidates for the UAF Director of Advising position. The recordings and feedback form are available at Director of Advising Search - Listen Session. The SAEM team invites and appreciates feedback on the candidates.

Make a pudding cup, learn about soils in Anchorage program

Youths can learn about soil science -- and play with their food -- in a fun, hands-on workshop with 4-H and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service. Learn more about the event.
