Staff Alliance offers FY25 professional development support

Staff Alliance is offering support for staff professional development activities that directly support their professional development in FY25. Examples include but are not limited to: professional certifications, attending or presenting at a conference, professional society memberships, online or in-person training, webinars. Theresa Bakker

Bakker named development, alumni relations director

Theresa Bakker has been named UAF's director of development and alumni relations. In the position, she will oversee fundraising, donor relations and alumni relations at UAF. Her appointment also formally merges the development team and the alumni team into a single department, a model that aims to facilitate a unified approach to the university's engagement with its donors and alumni. Honor's College interim director deadline extension

The deadline for an interim director of the Honor's College has been extended to 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 30, 2024. This position is for the remainder of the fall 2024 semester and through the spring 2025 semester while a search takes place for a permanent director. Learn more including how to apply.

Non-art faculty, staff art exhibit opening reception Sept. 27

Beyond the 9-5, an art exhibit featuring visual art created by non-art faculty and staff is on display in the University Art Gallery in the Fine Arts Complex, Art 313, through Oct. 4. The opening reception is on Friday, Sept. 27, from 5-7 p.m. Get more details on the exhibit hours.

Holdmann recognized for public service

Gwen Holdmann, founding director of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Alaska Center for Energy and Power, was honored for her public service by the Alaska Power Association during its annual meeting Sept. 10-13 in Fairbanks. Learn more about Holdmann's recognition.

25th annual Alaska Invasive Species Workshop set for Nov

The Alaska Invasive Species Workshop, a collaboration of the Alaska Invasive Species Partnership and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service, will hold its 25th annual workshop in Fairbanks in November. Read more and register to attend.


Responsible Conduct of Research training

The next in-person Responsible Conduct of Research training is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. This training, offered by the Office of Research Integrity, will cover essential norms, principles, regulations, and guidelines for conducting research responsibly.
