Join us for UAF's 98th commencement on Saturday
We're looking forward to celebrating UAF's 98th commencement with graduates and our university community at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 23.
Please join us for the virtual ceremony this year on the UAF Facebook page, as it’s important that our graduates see the university community's support. Participants do not need to have an active Facebook account to watch the event, but if they do, they can follow the Facebook event for the latest information.
Staff and faculty will be able to congratulate students in the comments as their names are announced. The graduates are listed in alphabetical order this year, rather than by school or college. Students have been invited to share their slides with friends and family during the ceremony with the hashtag #uafgrad2020. If you are unable to watch it on Saturday, you will be able to view it later.
The ceremony will include remarks by Chancellor Dan White, Provost Anupma Prakash and University of Alaska President Jim Johnsen. Degrees will be conferred by UA Board of Regents Chair Sheri Buretta.
The student speaker will be Max Erickson, who is graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Bruce Ervin is the recipient of the 2020 Marion Frances Boswell Memorial Award, honoring the outstanding bachelor’s degree candidate. Heike Loewer is the recipient of the Joel Wiegert Award, which recognizes the outstanding associate degree candidate.
Congratulations to this year's honorary degree and Meritorious Service Award recipients, as well as the faculty and staff who received emeritus status this year.
Deans and faculty will conclude the ceremony with a virtual gauntlet and congratulations.
