Feb. 1, 2022
Dear UAF community,
February is Black History Month, a time to recognize the achievements, contributions
and struggles of Black Americans in our country.
In recognition of Black History Month the UAF Nanook Diversity and Action Center is
offering several events that celebrate Black art and culture, including an illustrated timeline of Black History in Alaska that will be displayed at Arctic Java in the Wood Center.
Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. there will be an open forum on UAF’s efforts toward inclusive excellence. Leaders from units across campus will discuss our ongoing efforts to grow a culture
of respect, diversity, inclusion and caring at UAF. Many educational resources are
also available in UAF’s Share, Learn, Grow archive. I hope you will take time to engage in some of the events throughout the month as
well as join us this Thursday at the diversity forum.
Thank you for choosing UAF.
