Dear UAF employees,

Last week, the UA System office communicated their updated remote work regulations. Of particular importance, they have created a new website that outlines remote work options for employees. Employees seeking remote work options are required to file a remote work agreement if:

• the remote work recurs on a regular basis and is significant (more than 20% per pay period), or;
• the remote location is out of state for 30 days or more per calendar year.

Remote work must be approved by supervisors as not all jobs at UAF can be done remotely. If supervisors support the remote work proposals, they must complete a Remote Work Agreement form for each employee who is working remotely and for the period for which the remote work applies. Before returning to full-time on-site work, employees or their supervisors need to complete the Remote Work Agreement Cancellation form.

Please work with your supervisor if you need a remote working agreement. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution and each request must be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on individual circumstances. Formalizing this agreement ensures there is clarity between employees and supervisors regarding workplace expectations.
