Dear UAF faculty and staff,

I was saddened to hear of the recent passing of Carol Lewis. Lewis spent 39 years with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, including more than a decade as the dean of the School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences before retiring in 2012.

Lewis, who also served as director of the Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, joined UAF in 1973. Under her leadership, the research station advanced many initiatives across the state to advance agricultural research and natural resource management.
