The Drug-free Schools and Communities Act of 1989 requires that the University of Alaska Fairbanks notify students of the following:

- UAF's standards of conduct, which prohibit the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illegal drugs and alcohol by students and employees on UAF's property or in connection with any activities or programs sponsored by UAF.
- A description of UAF's disciplinary sanctions that will be imposed on students for the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illegal drugs and alcohol, up to and including expulsion or termination of student employment.
- A description of applicable sanctions under federal, state and local law for the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illegal drugs and alcohol.
- A description of the health risks associated with the use of illegal drugs and the abuse of alcohol.
- A description of any drug or alcohol counseling, treatment, rehabilitation or re-entry programs that are available to students.
