I was saddened to learn that Mary Ciuniq Pete died Saturday. Mary was part of the UAF community for many years. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees from UAF in 1979 and 1984, respectively. Mary served as dean of the College of Rural and Community Development and as the director of the Kuskokwim Campus. Mary served her region, state and nation in many ways, including playing a critical role on the U.S. Arctic Research Commission. My condolences go to Mary’s family, friends and colleagues.
