Daniel M. White, UAF chancellor
Welcome back! I am looking forward to the spring semester with each of you. The past six months have given me an even greater appreciation for the talents, skills and commitment of our students, staff and faculty.

This month the chancellor’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility Task Force will kick off its work to help us create a more diverse and equitable campus where all are welcome. Yest
erday was a national holiday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Next month, we celebrate Elizabeth Peratrovich Day, in recognition of the Tlingit leader's civil rights work for Alaska's Indigenous peoples. Countless others throughout Alaska and the nation were part of the massive effort to ensure equality for all, and we are the heirs to that legacy here at UAF. Each one of us strengthens this university.

I hope you are able to attend the Blue and Gold Gala Friday, Feb. 9, at the Carlson Center. In addition to being a fundraiser for UAF scholarships, the gala will serve to recognize UAF honorees and students.

This spring I will host three open forums. I encourage you to attend them, in person or via webcast. More information about each one will be published in Cornerstone in the next few weeks.

- Feb. 6: budget
- Feb. 27: enrollment
- March 20: diversity

I wish you all a productive and successful semester. For those of you getting ready to graduate, I’ll see you on
May 5.

— Daniel M. White, chancellor
