Dear UAF students, staff and faculty,

Late last week, on Oct. 15, Gov. Dunleavy announced a revised COVID-19 health mandate that went into effect on Oct. 16 at 12:01 a.m. Health Mandate 10.1 affects international, interstate and intrastate travel for those individuals entering Alaska. As the university is working through the revised mandate and updating our campus entry restriction guidance and student testing guidance, I wanted to provide a brief overview.

The new, revised mandate has slightly changed, lifting some of the testing and social distancing restrictions. Mandate 10.1 requires:

- Taking a test 72 hours before you arrive or at the airport upon arrival.
- Strict social distance for five days. After that, you can go anywhere you want.
- No second test required.
- Travel outside of Alaska for less than 72 hours
- No testing or quarantine is required.
- Resident travelers will self-monitor for 14 days after arrival for any symptoms.
- Special accommodations are available for critical infrastructure workers/industries. The accommodations are available for any type of travel, including personal travel.
All bullets in the above summary assume the first COVID-19 test is negative.

Please note that at this time the campus entry restrictions guidance (updated Sept. 25) and student testing guidance (updated Aug. 10) contain elements of the previous state travel guidance. These two policies currently reside at the UA System office. We are working with UA to get these updated to reflect new state mandates.

COVID-19 cases are on a steady increase in Alaska, and may further increase with relaxed travel restrictions. So far, we have seen some bumps in our numbers at UAF, but not the same steady growth in cases as the broader community. Thank you to everyone for your continued effort in keeping our campus safe. It is clearly having an impact.
