Dear students,

Last fall, the UA Board of Regents asked the three universities to look at better coordinating how we set tuition with our overall budget planning process.

Over the last several months, we have developed some tuition scenarios that we would like student feedback on. The options outlined here are based on market research analysis of students’ thoughts and needs regarding UAF, costs and scholarships in Alaska and the Lower 48. All of the tuition model scenarios contain additional scholarship and financial aid for students.

I want to stress that this is still in development. Nothing has been officially proposed. Chancellor White has asked the UAF Tuition and Fee Committee and UAF Planning and Budget Committee to review possible scenarios that may go into a request, but we are still exploring these ideas. You and your views are a very important part of this discussion!

I will be talking with students about this and more on Thursday, Aug. 27, from 1-2 p.m. during a virtual coffee hour. If you can’t join me Aug. 27, please send me your feedback at kmchampagne2@alaska.edu.
