Dear UAF students, staff and faculty,
According to the president’s message, effective Aug. 2, face coverings will be required indoors at all UAF locations in communities with a transmission level of “substantial” or “high” as defined by the CDC and accessible on the CDC COVID-19 data tracker. Face coverings are required except when you are alone in a private office with the door shut or in a private residence. Face coverings are also required in university vehicles and outdoors when it’s not possible to remain more than 6 feet from others.
UAF’s face covering policy will be updated to reflect the changes in the system guidance. As with our current policy, there will continue to be some exceptions. I will be communicating any changes with you in next week's COVID-19 email. We will also be updating the UAF COVID-19 website and campus signage.
The change in face coverings requirements should help as we return to predominantly in-person work Aug. 2. Of course, I encourage you to work with your supervisor on a telework agreement as appropriate. I am confident in the UAF community’s ability to adapt as we respond to rapidly changing conditions to keep our campuses and the communities we serve safe.
In coordination with the president, we continue to consider COVID-19 vaccine requirements for certain areas or activities in the university. Irrespective of this potential, I encourage you to get vaccinated and to participate in the voluntary attestation.
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we continue to prepare for the fall semester.
