Parks Canada, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and the federal Bureau of Land
Management have facilitated the transfer of 40 eleven-month-old wood bison to the
UAF Large Animal Research Station.
The new UAF events calendar will allow members of the UAF community and the public
to find university events in one place.

The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences will hold its final weekly seminar of
the semester on Wednesday, April 20, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. via Zoom. The talk will be
offered by Alexandria Sletten and Drew Porter, who are both graduate students at CFOS.
Over the past decade, there has been an increasing push toward making science more
relevant to affected communities. This salon explores how scientists and their organizations
engage with local communities to improve science, address local problems and build
lasting relationships.
The 2022 Honors College graduation ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 28,
from 6-8 p.m. in the Margaret Murie Building Auditorium.

Registration for the UAF Art Department’s 2022 Summer Visual Art Academy is now open.
The academy is an intensive visual arts program for students from grades 6-12. It
will take place in person from June 6-17.
Learn how to write successful grant proposals for the National Science Foundation,
National Institutes of Health and other funders at a free online seminar from 9 a.m.-
12:30 p.m. from May 23-25.
A $1 million donation from Kinross will bring the Troth Yeddha' Indigenous Studies
Center one step closer to reality. The gift, announced Tuesday evening, will fund
schematic design and bid specifications for the 34,000-square-foot facility at the
University of Alaska Fairbanks.
The UAF Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity (URSA) is offering
up to $2,500 for individuals (or up to $5,000 for groups of two or more students)
who are conducting research or creative projects during the 2022 fall semester.
The Alaska Fellows Program is accepting applications for the 2022-23 program year.
Application review is ongoing until filled, but applications are encouraged before
May 1.
Spaces are still available for this summer's undergraduate climate scholars field
intensive programs in early June. Applications are due by May 1.
