Discover Alaska lecture series starts June 8

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host the free Discover Alaska nine-lecture series presented by UAF Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning starting on June 8, highlighting topics in the 49th state with a variety of experts. Lectures will be at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the BP Design Theatre, located on the fourth floor of the Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility on the UAF Fairbanks campus. The presentations will also be livestreamed and available as recordings online.

UA Board of Regents unanimously approves Troth Yeddha' project

The University of Alaska Board of Regents on Friday unanimously voted for formal project approval for the Troth Yeddha' Indigenous Studies Center and Park. The regents’ approval of the $40 million project, which is slated for construction on the University of Alaska Fairbanks Troth Yeddha’ Campus in Fairbanks, means UAF can proceed with fundraising and schematic design.

More areas of year-round unfrozen ground have begun dotting Interior and Northwest Alaska and will continue to increase in extent due to climate change, according to new research by University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute scientists.

UAF steel bridge team takes second in national finals competition

A team from the University of Alaska Fairbanks took second place in the 2022 Student Steel Bridge Competition finals, the best showing for UAF in more than a quarter century. UAF’s team has regularly qualified for the national finals, which were held this year May 27-28 at Virginia Tech University.


OIT Upgrading Service Request Tool

Any OIT customer submitting a support request using the self-service option through OIT’s Service Catalog will notice a slight change later this month. Users should expect to see a new interface when filling out request forms on the OIT website, but should not expect any interruptions or disruptions in service.
