Dust off your ugly sweater on Friday, Dec. 9 at 5 p.m. at the Lat 65 Brewing Company
to cheer on our very own Alaska Nanooks at the UAFAA Pre-game Rally. Join us for this
festive event as we prepare to head back to the Carlson Center for the first game
in the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup series since 2020. We're not kidding about the ugly sweater. At 6 p.m. we'll host an ugly sweater contest
complete with fabulous prizes, including the "Most Nanook" sweater category. We'll see you there - Go Nooks!
Scientists within the University of Alaska system, including graduate students and
faculty members, are eligible to apply for the Angus Gavin Memorial Migratory Bird
Research Grant now open for 2023 field season proposals. The application deadline
is Dec. 12, 2022.
This is the final week of the Winter Wellness: 8-Weeks of Strategies for Surviving the Winter Blues campaign in MBS! Stop by the Student Health and Counseling table in the MBS between
noon and 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 to chat and gather ideas and resources for getting
out and about and exploring your surroundings this winter. You can also pick up a Save the Date reminder for the Winter Wellness Party taking place on Dec. 2, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in Hess Rec. The celebration will
include crafts, hot cocoa, and prizes!

The Graduate School is pleased to announce the fall 2022 Three Minute Thesis (3MT)
Competition Winners!
Education students: create a series of STEM lessons and you could earn $2,500! You
must be an elementary or secondary teacher education student doing a classroom practicum.
Students are encouraged to incorporate NASA education materials in all classrooms,
including visual and performing arts, social studies, health and physical education,
and the humanities. Applications for the 2023 spring semester are due Dec. 1, 2022.
Are you a graduate student? Are you interested in applying for a graduate research
assistantship? Alaska INBRE's GRA opportunity is open. The deadline for submission
is Jan. 13, 2023, by 5 p.m. AKT.
Graduate students can apply for up to $15,000 in total direct costs grants to undertake
NASA-relevant research. Proposals are due Dec. 1. For more information and to download application documents, visit the Alaska Space
