Paws at the Library

The Rasmuson Library will host service dogs on Dec. 8 and 9 from 1-5 p.m. Come relieve your stress in preparation for exam week. Meet our furry friends on the 4th floor (main level) of the Library for a 'pawsitive' experience. No registration required, just show with a smile.


Student Health and Counseling Holiday closures

Student Health and Counseling will be closed Dec. 9 from 2-5 p.m. and Dec. 16 from 3-5 p.m. The week of Dec. 19-22 our offices will be closed from 12:30-1:30 p.m. due to reduced staffing during soft closure. The week of Jan. 3-6, 2023, our offices will be closed from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Call 907-474-7043 for appointments.

BLaST celebrates December Scientist of the Month

Since 2016, the Biomedical Learning and Student Training program at University of Alaska Fairbanks has highlighted scientists from all biomedical fields through its Scientist of the Month articles. BLaST Scholar and UAF biological sciences undergraduate student Daphne Mueller was selected as the December 2022 BLaST Scientist of the Month. Mather Library and Rasmuson Library invite everyone presenting a poster at the American Geophysical Union fall meeting in Chicago to participate in a pre-conference poster session Dec. 8 from 1-3 p.m. in the Mather Library. 


Learn to play pickleball

Farthest North Pickleball Club would like to invite UAF students, faculty and staff to play with them. free to play, no experience necessary, and there are a few loaner paddles available. The club plays at the SRC all winter. Faculty or staff who do not currently have a Nanook Recreation membership will need to buy a day pass to enter the building. Official club times are Tuesdays from 5-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 4-6 p.m. For more club information please email fairbankspickleball@gmail.com.

Wood Center ATM Removal

Wells Fargo terminated their ATM agreement with UAF and removed the Wood Center ATM at the end of November. The University is working on a replacement option.

LEAP seeking faculty, student applicants

The UAF Faculty Accelerator and eCampus are seeking student applicants to participate in the Learner Experience Advocacy Program for the 2023 spring semester. LEAP is a semester-long faculty development program where trained undergraduate students partner with participating instructors to share feedback on their online courses. Follow this link to learn more about the program and submit an application. Applications are due by Dec. 9, 2022.


Art Department studio sale; De-stress fest and Campus made market

In conjunction with the Art Department's annual studio sale, the Office of Sustainability will host a De-stress Fest and Campus Made Market on Dec. 9 from noon to 6 p.m. in Native Arts Studio Room 301 in the Fine Arts Building. After shopping the studio sale drop by to relax, enjoy winter-themed snacks, craft a free gift for yourself or someone else, shop from a selection of campus-made products and learn about new ways to manage stress during the darkest days of the year.


End of semester event at UAF Esports Center

On Friday, Dec. 9 from 2-6 p.m. the UAF Esports Center will be running an end of semester holiday event! Come enjoy some casual holiday games to kick things off. There will be free beanies and food for all attendees and GCI will give a special announcement at 3 p.m. An ugly sweater competition will also be held, where students can compete to win great prizes!

Decolonizing the Curriculum

Dr. Michael Yellow Bird will present on decolonizing epistemologies, theory, and relevance for implementing Indigeneity in institutional spaces such as higher education on Dec. 16 from noon to 2 p.m. Pre-register for this Zoom-only event.
