Since 2016, the Biomedical Learning and Student Training program at University of
Alaska Fairbanks has highlighted scientists from all biomedical fields through its
Scientist of the Month articles. BLaST Scholar and UAF biological sciences undergraduate
student Daphne Mueller was selected as the December 2022 BLaST Scientist of the Month.

Geophysical Union fall meeting in Chicago to participate in a pre-conference poster
session Dec. 8 from 1-3 p.m. in the Mather Library.
Farthest North Pickleball Club would like to invite UAF students, faculty and staff
to play with them. free to play, no experience necessary, and there are a few loaner
paddles available. The club plays at the SRC all winter. Faculty or staff who do not currently have a
Nanook Recreation membership will need to buy a day pass to enter the building. Official

The UAF Faculty Accelerator and eCampus are seeking student applicants to participate
in the Learner Experience Advocacy Program for the 2023 spring semester. LEAP is a semester-long faculty development program where trained undergraduate students
partner with participating instructors to share feedback on their online courses.

In conjunction with the Art Department's annual studio sale, the Office of Sustainability
will host a De-stress Fest and Campus Made Market on Dec. 9 from noon to 6 p.m. in Native Arts Studio Room 301 in the Fine Arts Building. After shopping the studio sale drop by to relax, enjoy winter-themed snacks, craft
a free gift for yourself or someone else, shop from a selection of campus-made products
and learn about new ways to manage stress during the darkest days of the year.
On Friday, Dec. 9 from 2-6 p.m. the UAF Esports Center will be running an end of semester holiday event! Come enjoy some casual holiday games to kick things off. There will be free beanies
and food for all attendees and GCI will give a special announcement at 3 p.m. An ugly sweater competition will also be held, where students can compete to win great
prizes!
Several Rural Student Services advisors have been recognized for their commitment
to student success. Minnie Naylor, Gabrielle Russell, and Donald Crocker have all
recently received awards from the University of Alaska Fairbanks for their outstanding
dedication.
Dr. Michael Yellow Bird will present on decolonizing epistemologies, theory, and relevance
for implementing Indigeneity in institutional spaces such as higher education on Dec. 16 from noon to 2 p.m. Pre-register for this Zoom-only event.
