UAF to host Really Free Market on May 20

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host the Really Free Market recycling event on Saturday, May 20, in the parking lot next to the Lola Tilly Commons. The market has a drive-up lane, and volunteers will be there to help unload donations from 8 to 10 a.m. Organizers say more volunteers are needed to help with set-up during those hours. Data Center outage May 13 and 20 will affect Internet, VPN access and shared drives

UAF Facilities Services will be conducting a planned maintenance power shutdown in the Butrovich Building to integrate a new Uninterruptible Power Supply for the Butrovich Data Center. The UPS will ensure seamless and continuous power supply to the BDC in the event of a utility outage. The BDC electrical system must be temporarily powered down to ensure safety for the technicians doing the work. This planned maintenance shutdown will mean that many UA data systems served out of the BDC will be unavailable for specific timeframes.

To most people who work and study on the Troth Yeddha' campus, the University of Alaska Museum of the North is a place to take visiting family and friends to see exhibits or participate in some of our public programs like Family Days or Open House. Fewer people are aware that UAMN is also the largest teaching and research museum in Alaska.
