Aurora: Students go underground to find rock-steady jobs

UAF School of Education students awarded Teacher Internship Scholarship

The UAF School of Education is proud to announce that 41 UAF education students were awarded approximately $838,000 in scholarships through the Alaska College of Education Consortium UA Teacher Internship Scholarship program.


Alaska Native Language Center Film nominated for NW Regional Emmy

The Alaska Native Language Center's film, Awake, has been nominated for a Northwest Regional Emmy through the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Emmy award winners will be announced June 3, 2023. Watch Awake here.

UAF participates in Nordic Innovation Summit 2023

The University of Alaska Fairbanks participated in panel discussions at the Nordic Innovation Summit in Seattle, organized by the National Nordic Museum, including a panel moderated by Erlingur Guðleifsson of the UAF Alaska Blue Economy Center. The summit brought together innovators and industry leaders from Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland to discuss emerging trends and challenges in the seafood industry.

Registration still open for UAF Summer Music Academy

Registration is open for the UAF Summer Music Academy. SMA is a day-camp for young musicians who have completed 5th-12th grades. All levels are welcome. This year we are introducing a new Introduction to Band and Orchestra program. No experience is necessary and instruments will be available for rent.

Music in the Garden concerts begin May 25

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Music in the Garden concert series will kick off May 25 at the Georgeson Botanical Garden. The concert series offers 12 weeks of family-friendly performances through the summer.


UAF scientists to hunt for clues about Arctic Ocean glaciation

Evidence indicates a thick ice sheet, not annual sea ice and icebergs, covered the Arctic Ocean at some point during the last 140,000 years. Now, University of Alaska Fairbanks scientists will be looking for more geologic proof of the ice sheet's existence, sources, behavior and extent. Read more ...

Registration open for Visual Art Academy

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Art in collaboration with the College of Liberal Arts will host the 19th annual Summer Visual Art Academy, an intensive visual arts program for students from grades 6-12. The Visual Art Academy will be held June 5-16, 2023. Check out our website for more info and register now for the best selection of classes!

Student Leadership and Involvement will be hosting our annual Party in the Park event on August 29 from noon to 2 p.m. in Constitution Park at the start of the fall 2023 semester. Registration will open early August.
