R1 Research Survey

The UAF R1 Steering Committee invites you to fill out the following survey to share your ideas and submit nominations for working groups that will work toward refining, prioritizing, and implementing the proposed mechanisms to help UAF achieve R1 research status. Apply for URSA Spring 2024 Project Awards

Undergraduate students of all disciplines and from all UAF-affiliated campuses* who plan to pursue creative projects or conduct research during the Spring 2024 term are invited to apply for URSA Student Project funding. Applications will be accepted until Nov. 5 at 11:59 p.m.

NASA: Radarsat-1 data archived at ASF open

The NASA Earth Observing System Data and Information System has announced that all Radarsat-1 data archived at the Alaska Satellite Facility Distributed Active Archive Center are now open data and can be freely downloaded. Read more about the open data availability.


2023-2024 FAFSA-filing workshop

Please share with your students who may have not completed their FAFSA application for the 2023-24 school year. They can meet with a financial aid advisor to receive help with the application during workshops on Thursday, Oct. 5 or Friday, Oct. 6, from 4-5 p.m. each day. Students will need to bring their own laptops in order to work on their applications.


Apply for Paul H. McCarthy Awards

Individual undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines at the University of Alaska are eligible and invited to apply for an award of $2,500 to support their research using the Alaska and Polar Regions Collections and Archives at the Elmer E. Rasmuson Library. One award is available annually. The deadline to apply is Nov. 5, 2023, by 11:59 p.m.

FAFSA delay for 2024-2025 applications

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid opens on Oct. 1 of each year. However, in 2020, Congress passed the 'FAFSA Simplification Act,' which represents a significant overhaul of the FAFSA application process. As a result of these changes, the 2024-2025 FAFSA Application will be delayed until December 2023. Read more about the FAFSA change.


Music At One is back

The UAF Department of Music presents a free weekly concert series featuring students and faculty members every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Davis Concert Hall. Concerts are also streamed on the UAF music department YouTube channel.

UA renews science partnership with USGS

The University of Alaska will continue to host the Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center after renewing an agreement with the U.S. Geological Survey. Learn more about the $11.4 million the USGS will provide to fund the center during the next five years.
