IAB Life Science Seminar

The Life Science Seminar series continues on Friday, Oct. 27 from
3-4 p.m. in-person in the Murie Auditorium with Associate Professor of Biology and Wildlife Greg Breed. He will discuss current research surrounding the lifespan of whales. Learn more about the seminar at the Institute of Arctic Biology website.

BLaST celebrates Scientist of the Month

BLaST Scholar and UAF biology undergraduate student Julie-Anne Brown was selected as the October 2023 BLaST Scientist of the Month for October. Learn more about Brown's selection as the BLaST Scientist of the Month.


Fish skin tanning workshop in Sitka

This fish skin tanning workshop on Oct. 27 from 5-9 p.m. and Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 115, UAS Sitka Campus, 1332 Seward Ave., will be led by instructor Karen McIntyre. The cost is $125. Tamamta program honored by APLU

UAF's Tamamta program has been honored with the Advancing Diversity and Inclusion in University Research Award from the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities. Tamamta activities and training include Indigenous fisheries courses, an elder-in-residence program, a visiting Indigenous scholar program, cultural immersion experiences, professional development and more. UAF Bookstore to begin new partnership

UAF has begun a new partnership with Barnes & Noble College to operate the UAF Bookstore. The Bookstore will be closed from Oct. 30 to Nov. 8 to transfer from Follett Higher Education. To prepare for the transition, Follett currently has select items discounted 20-75%. Read more about the transition.

Dead Writers event to raise funds for series

Alaska Invasive Species Workshop

The 2022 detection of the invasive European green crab in Southeast Alaska and the effect of climate change on the prevalence and impacts of species invasions will be highlighted at the 2023 Alaska Invasive Species Workshop.
