Use exercise to manage finals stress

Exercise can help when end-of-semester stress hits! Exercise can be a natural mode booster, increase focus, and help reduce the impact of stress. Whether going for a walk, hitting the gym, or taking part in one of the group fitness sessions at the SRC, make sure to take some time to get active. Learn more about upcoming fitness sessions.

Level up with microcredentials

Over the past year, some UAF faculty have been piloting microcredentials in their courses. As this initiative continues to grow in popularity, you may have a class that gives you the opportunity to earn a microcredential. However, there can be a lot of confusion when it comes to what they are, their value, and how to use them. Read more on this eCampus blog post.

Online: Disabilities in disasters and the resolute resistors

Individuals with disabilities are often disproportionately affected by a disaster; likewise, no two disabilities or vulnerable populations are alike and should not be treated the same way. In this presentation on Dec. 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., guest speaker Daryl P. Schaffer will review what individuals with disabilities may need before, during, or after a disaster as well as what they can give back to some professional emergency career fields. Read more on the presenter and info on the coffee chat the following morning.

Introducing graduate student fellowships

For graduate students interested in innovation, Center ICE supports two types of fellowships and both are recruiting for the spring semester. To apply, students need to answer some questions about their motivations and current research, and provide a support letter from their advisor. To learn more about both programs and apply, visit the RISE-UP website. Applications close on Nov. 28.
