BLaST celebrates December, January Scientist of the Month

Since 2016, the Biomedical Learning and Student Training program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks has highlighted scientists from all biomedical fields through its Scientist of the Month articles. Second-year UAF BLaST Scholar and senior Maggie House was selected as the December 2023 and January 2024 BLaST Scientist of the Month. Apply for graduate student fellowships

URSA ITE Awards open to apply Feb. 5

URSA's ITE Awards offer up to $5,000 to support purchases of technology-related equipment, or software to be used in student-based instruction and/or research or project work. Applications will be accepted from Feb. 5 through March 10, 2024. Learn more about the ITE Awards.


Upper Tanana Region flooding and environmental history

During this month's webinar Jessica Cherry, NOAA’s Regional Climate Service director for Alaska, will review the recent and ancient history of flooding of the Upper Tanana River, particularly in the area around the road to the Village of Tetlin. This information could be relevant for infrastructure design, maintenance, and mitigation of risk from flooding and other hazards in the region. Register here for the online event.
