SoBear Lounge improv night: A Shot of Reality

A Shot of Reality is an improv/ comedy-alcohol awareness show that was created out of serious, painstaking research, but performed by two professional comedians who make the topic engaging. The show has been performed at universities and comedy clubs all over the United States and comes to UAF on Thursday, Oct. 3 from 6-7:30 p.m., at Hess Recreation in the MBS Complex. Public talk: importance of meditation to well-being by Zen master

A visiting Zen master, Barbara (Bobby) Rhodes, will present a public talk at the Well (334 Duckering Building, UAF) on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. The talk will be about the importance of meditation practice in promoting the well-being of ourselves and those around us. The required annual UA Safe Title IX Training is now available through Canvas. Students, employees and volunteers must complete the training by Oct. 31, 2024. Learn more and complete the training.


Science talk, film screening at museum

Spend an evening at the UA Museum of the North on Oct. 4 from 6-9 p.m. for an Alaska and France Science Talk. This free event includes a gathering buffet; a panel discussion based on holistic environmental research, where Indigenous knowledge and emerging technologies meet; and a film screening of "On the tip of the tongue" by Vincent Bonnay. Alaska 4-H kicks off new program year with a special day

Youths and volunteers across Alaska are enrolling in 4-H as the program year begins this October. They're also celebrating the inaugural Alaska State 4-H Day on Wednesday, Oct. 2, and National 4-H Week, Oct. 7-12. Learn more on the celebration.

UAF presents the Nanook Express

The Nanook Express is a free student shuttle for all hockey games from the Troth Yeddha' Campus to the Hockey Arena. The shuttle loops continuously starting an hour before the game from the Wood Center, to the Patty Center and the Hockey Arena. Learn more about the route and start time.

Benefactor fund grants available to student groups

The UAF Alumni Association offers grants of up to $1,000 for student and campus groups to fund projects that address specific needs and enhance opportunities for current students. Applications are due by Oct. 28, 2024. Read more on the grant funds and how to apply for them.
