The University of Alaska Fairbanks will celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day with several events and activities across colleges, campuses and departments on Monday, Oct. 14, 2024. Visit the UAF Indigenous Peoples Day webpage for more info and the schedule of events. The UAF Kuskokwim Campus in Bethel will hold a community celebration; more info is on the event Facebook page. The Northwest Campus in Nome also has a schedule of activities on their Facebook page.


UAF Fall Career Fair

The UAF Fall Career Fair will be held on both levels of the Wood Center on Thursday, Oct 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We are welcoming over 75 employers from a variety of fields/ industries to campus who are eager to connect with students. Adult Mental Health First Aid training

Student Health and Counseling is offering a Mental Health First Aid training class to UAF students, staff and faculty on Oct. 24-25 at the BP Design Theater in room 401 of the Usibelli Building. Read more and register before the Oct. 16 deadline.

URSA Spring 2025 Mentor Awards now accepting proposals

Faculty, research staff, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students from all disciplines of UAF-affiliated campuses are invited to apply for up to $3,000 to engage undergraduate students on their research and creative projects taking place during the spring 2025 term. Learn more and apply by Nov. 3.


Apply for Paul H. McCarthy Award

Individual undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines at the University of Alaska are eligible and invited to apply for an award of $2,500 to support their research using the Alaska and Polar Regions Collections and Archives at the Elmer E. Rasmuson Library. One award is available annually. Read more and apply by the Nov. 3 deadline.

Graduate research grants

Graduate students can request up to $45,000 (total direct costs) to undertake NASA-relevant research. Research topics can include biology studies, human impact, aeronautics, astrophysics, satellite payloads and more. Proposals are due by Dec. 1. Learn more and apply for grants.


Try pickleball or rock climbing this fall

UAF Summer Sessions is offering non-credit pickleball and rock climbing courses for adults at the SRC this fall, beginning in early November. Intro to Pickleball will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. Intro to Rock Climbing will meet Mondays from 5-6:30 p.m. Read more and register for courses.


Learn to knit this fall

UAF Summer Sessions is offering a non-credit knitting course for adults in November. This course, taught by Ginny Kinne, is designed for people new to knitting. Students will learn the basics and so much more. Register now for the November course.
