Ride-Along Program
The University Fire Department Ride-along Program provides students interested in the fire service the opportunity to ride as a guest on a University Fire Department apparatus. Students that are curious about participating in this program must be at least 16 years old with the approval of a parent or guardian.
Age Group: 16+ years old with the approval of a parent or guardian at time of participation, bring copy of ID.
Audience Size: 1
Time: Up to 12 hours, limited between the hours of 0700 and 1900 hours. (The duration of the ride-along is subject to change according to the Battalion Chief and/or Company Officer sponsoring the student visit).
Cost: Free
Procedure:
- Submit a Ride-along request;
- Review, sign and submit ride-along packet & copy of ID to krmiddleton@alaska.edu.
If guests and students are under the age of 18, it is mandatory to complete the Minor Fire Department Ride-along form that is included in the Ride-along packet mentioned above.
Please ensure that you initiate your ride-along 14 days prior to the requested ride-along dates.
Kindly note that in order to accommodate possible schedule conflicts, it is advisable to provide at least two dates that you are available to complete the Ride-along.
We would like to remind you that this program is specifically designed for students and guests who are interested in exploring a career in the fire service and learning more about the University Fire Department.
