Meet Garrett! The New Honors Peer to Peer Mentor!
August 20, 2020
The Honors College has recently hired a new Peer to Peer Mentor, Garrett Taylor!
Garrett came to UAF from Barrow in the North Slope Region of Alaska. He is a sophomore who is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences. In his free time, he enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, playing video games, taking photos, and always enjoys any board game. Garrett is excited to be a peer to peer mentor and help with the middle college this year.
He will join fellow Peer to Peer Mentors Skyler Smith and Feyne Elmore.
Feyne is an undergraduate student from Katy, Texas. She is in the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences and a member of the UAF Honors College. She is studying chemical oceanography. She loves plants, people, and being outdoors.
Skyler came to UAF from a small town called Haines in the Southeast panhandle of Alaska. She is a sophomore who is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in English. In her off time, she enjoys reading a good book, hanging out with friends, going on a long walk with her dog Anna, or enjoying a hike on the campus trails.
The Peer to Peer Mentors are all very excited to see everyone this fall and work alongside the Honors College as well as the new Middle College. A new program created for High school Seniors and Juniors out of the Northstar Borough to take college courses two days out of the week to get a better understanding of how college is and to learn more about the opportunities available to them at UAF.
