Student Success Story: Riley Von Borstel
April 20, 2020
We are so proud of all of our Honors students, but this month we wanted to celebrate Riley's achievements in her first year at UAF. Riley is from Seward AK, and graduated from Seward HS in May 2019. She is a freshman at UAF pursuing a double major in Justice and Political Science with minors in Social Work and Psychology. Riley came to UAF because many of her family members are alumni, and she fell in love with the university through her many visits to the Fairbanks campus. For her, it feels like home away from home. Riley says "it’s 500 mi away from Seward but it’s still AK". While being at UAF, Riley has been actively involved in the campus community as the Vice President of the Honors Student Advisory Council (HSAC), a senator with ASUAF. and chairperson of the student academic affairs committee. She has also been cast as Jane Bennet in the theater department’s production of Pride and Prejudice. Very importantly, Riley won the recent ASUAF presidential election. Riley shares, "in the years to come, I hope to inspire upcoming students to become actively involved in their university. Also, I hope to assist the university system in overcoming adversity so the UA system is here for a long time." Edit Content
