Getting Started - In Person

New Employee Onboarding and Benefits Orientation
At UAF, our New Employee Onboarding and Benefits Orientation (OBO), is your chance to get an in-depth look at your benefits options with the university, and learn a little about the campus as a whole. Attendance whether by phone (for rural campus employees) or in-person is mandatory; if you miss your orientation date, your benefits paperwork due dates do not change, and you may end up with a benefit plan you do not want. OBO is your opportunity to ask all your questions before making your benefits decisions within your 30-day selection period.

OBO is typically held on the first and third Wednesday of each month. OBO is presented in the Butrovich Building and starts promptly at 8:30 a.m. and lasts until approximately 11:00 a.m.

Attending OBO Remotely
Those who are in remote locations and unable to attend in person are asked to Zoom into the session. Employees participating via distance will receive Zoom information a few days prior to orientation.

UAF is a large institution, which is part of an even larger state-wide higher education organization. It can be difficult to find your way around in your first days, weeks and months. Below are some resources to help you become familiar with UAF a little faster!

Polar Express Cards

Your Polar Express card is your UAF ID; with it you can access a myriad of benefits. To find out more about the benefits included with your Polar Express card and more information in obtaining one, visit the Bursar's Office Polar Express website!

Parking at UAF requires a parking decal. To research the different decal options, and purchase your decal, visit the Parking Services website.
