Report Concerns

All concerns related to the safe and appropriate use of recombinant rDNA, infectious agents, biologically derived toxins, or genetically modified organisms at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) or by UAF researchers at other locations should be reported to the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) or Biosafety Officer.  To facilitate reporting, the IBC has adopted a report template; however, you may also express your concerns in-person, by telephone or email to any member of the Office of Research Integrity (ORI) (907-474-7800 or uaf-ori@alaska.edu) or to an IBC member.

The ORI receives all reports on behalf of the IBC and handles the initial review and fact finding process.  Although annonymous reports are accepted, the ORI encourages individuals to identify themselves and to make themselves available to answer follow-up questions should they arise during the review.  To the maximum extent possible the ORI will protect the identity of the individual(s) submitting reports, but depending on the nature of the report and subsequent procedings this may not always be possible.

UAF protects employees from reprisal due to good faith reporting as required under the Alaska Whistleblower Act (AS 39.90.100-150).

For more general concerns related to the offices under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, there is an online submission option available here. You may submit comments regarding the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Office of Research Integrity, Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization, or Animal Resources Center.
