    • Exceptions to coursework and requirements:
      • General guidance on requirements:
        • Interdisciplinary Studies allows students a great deal of flexibility in course choices for their major and/or minor, however, all general university requirements, general education requirements (i.e. GERs), degree requirements, and non-interdisciplinary program requirements are expected to be completed through coursework (i.e. institutional credit, transfer credit above residency requirements), standardized testing options pre-approved for credit (CLEP, DSST-DANTES, FLAT, AP, IB).
        • Credit by exam and Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) are only available in exceptionally unusual circumstances. Students must demonstrate university-level learning, including theoretical knowledge; length of experience and type of position alone are insufficient. Student may be required to present proposal in writing including supporting background documentation.
        • Petitions for substitutions to and waivers of will be considered only in extraordinary circumstances when other requirements are already met and pursuing additional coursework represents a hardship to the student without any relevant benefit.
