Fairbanksan Vera Alexander honored with new award

FAIRBANKS — A professor and dean emeritus of the School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences at the University of Alaska Fairbanks has had an award named after her — merely a drop in her ocean of accomplishments.
Vera Alexander received the first-ever achievement award from the Pollock Conservation Cooperative Research Center, a commercial-fishing consortium, in January. Future awards will be called the Vera Alexander Award for Marine Science and Education.
