Support the e-Competition
Why?
"Music can change the world because it can change people."
- Bono, U2
That a musical competition of this caliber could happen in a small, frozen, distant
college town like Fairbanks, Alaska is a testament to the phenomenal commitment to
the arts in Fairbanks and throughout Alaska. In June 2014, 24 of the most expressive,
passionate and talented pianists from around the world will challenge each other for
a musical title - right here in our own backyard.
Through the 2014 Alaska International Piano-e-Competition, UAF, the Fairbanks community,
and visitors from the state of Alaska and beyond will be exposed to musicians of the
utmost talent in classical music from around the globe. Past international e-Competitions
have brought world-renowned artists from the United States, Europe, Asia, South America
and Russia. The Alaska International Piano-e-Competition will bring a wealth of diversity
and talent into our community, and through the webcasting of this competition, international
awareness of Fairbanks as a destination for visitors around the globe. The impact
on Fairbanks and state of Alaska is immeasurable.
Aspiring artists of all ages will have the critical exposure needed to help inspire and motivate our next generation of classical musicians. A competition of this caliber will help UAF continue to make its mark in the areas of arts and music and bring UAF, Fairbanks and Alaska to the attention of audiences around the world.
Your support will make this competition a reality. Your gift says, "I care about music," and more importantly, "I believe that Fairbanks and all of Alaska can benefit from the opportunity to share in this musical experience." We all have our own musical memories, musical preferences and tastes, but if music is meaningful to you and you can make a contribution--please do. Your gift will make it possible for Alaskans to enjoy a world-class musical experience in our own home state.
